Holistic Health for Women
During my research, I found that women lack comprehensive, personalized resources for holistic health guidance and trusted information across different life stages. This often leads to missed preventative care and a reactive approach to well-being.
This led me to design Maeve Health. Maeve, an AI chatbot, onboards and learns about the user through conversations. As Maeve learns more, she can provide personalized wellness guides on preventative care, lifestyle, nutrition, and physical health, as well as offer resources. Maeve also helps women track goals, understand test results, and find reliable information. The bot is trained on trusted research and backed by healthcare providers who review all health information.

Lastly, she has had some health issues and wants to know how that will impact conception.
How it works
In this example, I focus on the user/persona, Lilly, who is looking to prepare for a future pregnancy.
Lilly downloads the app and is onboarded by Maeve. Maeve will ask questions around health history, family history, diet, and medications in order to learn about her. Maeve can generate four types of guides: preventative, physical, nutrition, and lifestyle. She starts with preventative.
Maeve will generate the first wellness guide for Lilly. Lilly can revisit the chat to make changes or add information. She can also choose to start the process for a second wellness guide.
Maeve will generate resources based on what Lilly shared in the chat. Resources and information Maeve shares is reviewed by healthcare professionals for trusted information.
As Lilly continues to chat with Maeve around health questions or tracking goals, Maeve will continue to evolve the health guides.
Wellness Guides
Wellness guides are generated with AI (Maeve) and are reviewed by healthcare professionals. Disclaimer: Maeve is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, it is for informational and motivational purposes only. This would be made known to users.
Maeve will ask different questions for each wellness guide to generate personalized and specific content.
Guides can evolve depending on information shared. If a user mentions that they don’t drink alcohol, Maeve would remove anything drinking related from the guide, for example.
Guides are only created once a user starts the onboarding process for that specific guide with Maeve.
Maeve Health User Journey
Process
Qualitative Research- I interviewed 24 women with different backgrounds.
Synthesis and Analysis- I used miroboard for participant clustering and insights.
Ideating- I created “How might we’s” and began brainstorming solutions.
Prototyping & Testing- I created low-fi and digital wireframes and tested on users.
Iterating- I iterated based on feedback.
More feedback and more iterating- I continued to iterate based on mentor feedback.
Learnings and Next Steps
This project took me back to the basics and reminded me that it’s better to do one thing and do it well then try to solve for multiple problems. I originally wanted multiple features and aspects in my app and made several prototypes. However, when a mentor asked what my app did, I stumbled across my words, making it clear that I needed to dial it back and find an anchor. My next steps involve testing this current iteration on more women to determine if this this something they would want and use.
